The U.S. Census Bureau has released new data tables on the foreign-born population in the United States, using information from the 2024 Current Population Survey Annual Social and Economic Supplement (CPS ASEC).

The new data provide details about employment status, education, household income, poverty status, race, age, and sex across three generational groups: first generation (foreign-born individuals), second generation (those with at least one foreign-born parent), and third-and-higher generation (those with two U.S. native parents).

The Current Population Survey is recognized as one of the nation’s oldest and largest surveys. It serves as a primary source for monthly labor force statistics and supports various studies to inform the public about the economic and social conditions of people living in the United States.
