Compass has expanded its presence in Florida by adding a 15-agent team in Stuart, marking its entry into the Treasure Coast region. The New York-based brokerage, led by CEO Robert Reffkin, has brought on the New Wave Group as its first team in this area. Sara Crombie leads the New Wave Group, which focuses on luxury residential properties across Martin, Palm Beach, and St. Lucie counties.
The New Wave Group has closed over $500 million in sales. Its agents include Catherine Hudzina, Dana Netska, Ellen Pentland, Gayle Sokoloff, Genece Singer, Jake Newman, Jennifer Heins, Judy Cialone, Laura Trombetta, Mike Davis, Nina Blum, Susan Freytes, Susan Slutsky and Will Gluckman.
“New Wave has closed more than $500 million in sales,” according to the release.
This move follows broader trends in Florida’s real estate market that have accelerated since the pandemic prompted significant migration to the state and increased activity among brokerages seeking to expand their reach. Last year saw another major brokerage expansion when Keyes Company acquired a 24-agent firm in Fort Pierce.
Compass is one of the largest real estate brokerages nationally with more than 33,000 agents and continues to invest heavily in mergers and acquisitions. In addition to entering the Treasure Coast with New Wave Group, Compass added a 20-agent team in Florida’s Panhandle region in 2022 and opened an office for 300 agents and staff in Downtown Naples earlier this year. In July, Compass also brought on the Korman Group—a 40-agent team—at its Boca Raton location.
Beyond expansion efforts within Florida and other markets nationwide,Compass is involved in ongoing legal disputes regarding home marketing practices. The company is currently suing Zillow over private listing policies and recently announced it would no longer follow the National Association of Realtor’s Clear Cooperation Policy.
