Duke Energy and the Duke Energy Foundation have announced a $100,000 contribution to the One SC Fund, which was recently activated by Governor Henry McMaster to support food banks throughout South Carolina. This initiative comes as many families face increased need for assistance during colder months and the holiday season.

In addition to this donation, Duke Energy will provide another $500,000 in November to support at least 60 feeding programs across the state. The company noted that since 2021, it has committed more than $2.6 million to similar efforts.

Governor Henry McMaster said, “Duke Energy’s contribution to the One SC Fund highlights the very best of South Carolina. At a time when many families are facing uncertainty, Team South Carolina is coming together to support our food banks and put food on the table. I’m grateful for their generosity and hope it will encourage others to join our effort to help families in need.”

Tim Pearson, Duke Energy’s South Carolina president, added, “These organizations are fighting the good fight every day in communities across our state, but they cannot do it alone. Duke Energy is happy to stand with the governor, and we encourage other corporate entities, organizations and citizens across the state to help support the fight against hunger.”

The company’s annual campaign will begin next week and marks its fifth year supporting organizations that address food insecurity in South Carolina. Over $500,000 will be distributed among more than 60 feeding programs leading up to Thanksgiving, with final grant announcements planned for Giving Tuesday.

Organizations benefiting from this campaign include Harvest Hope Food Bank, Mill Village Farms, Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina, FoodShare South Carolina and AIM. Duke Energy employees are also expected to volunteer their time throughout November.

The company encourages customers who are struggling financially to seek information about resources that can help manage energy bills at duke-energy.com/SeasonalSavings.

The Duke Energy Foundation provides over $30 million each year in philanthropic support within communities served by Duke Energy customers. The Foundation is funded by shareholders of Duke Energy.

Duke Energy serves electric utility customers in six states and operates significant energy capacity nationwide. More information about its operations can be found at duke-energy.com and through its social media channels.
