Business and policy leaders from across Florida are set to gather for the Florida Chamber Foundation’s 2025 Florida Transportation, Growth & Infrastructure Solution Summit. The event aims to provide a platform for asset owners, developers, engineers, logistics firms, economic developers, and policymakers to discuss strategies that align with the Florida 2030 Blueprint’s infrastructure goals.
The summit will focus on several key topics affecting the state’s future. These include international trade and seaport growth strategy, expansion of energy and broadband connectivity, affordable workforce housing, transportation needs, and infrastructure requirements for the aerospace industry.
A keynote presentation will be delivered by Jared Perdue, Secretary of the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), who will share early insights into FDOT’s Florida Transportation Plan 2055. Other speakers scheduled include Beth Cooley from Amazon; Rob Long of Space Florida; Bryan Griffin from VISIT FLORIDA; Ashley Dietz of the Florida Philanthropic Network; Matt Swanson from SelectFlorida and FloridaCommerce; Captain John W. Murray from Port Canaveral; Kevin Carr of FloridaMakes; Jessica Ottaviano from FDOT; among others.
During the event, the Florida Chamber Foundation will release a new study analyzing how an undercount in the 2020 Census—estimated at approximately 750,000 missed residents—has affected federal funding allocation in each county. The research indicates that this undercount led to about $11 billion in federal tax dollars not being directed to communities throughout the state. This shortfall has impacted reinvestment efforts, infrastructure development, and broader economic growth.
Dr. Keith Richard, Vice President of Research for the Florida Chamber Foundation said: “Florida is projected to add more than 2.5 million residents by 2030, welcome 40 million annual visitors, and see roughly 2.1 million new drivers on its roadways. These insights highlight the importance of an accurate 2030 Census count to make certain Florida’s communities receive their fair share of federal funding and have community investments that keep pace with our state’s growth. We’ll be unveiling a research study at the Summit showing how much federal funding each Florida county missed out on due to the 2020 Census undercount.”
Mark Wilson, President & CEO of both the Florida Chamber of Commerce and Foundation stated: “As Florida continues to grow, our infrastructure must not only keep pace but lead the way. At the Florida Chamber Foundation, we are uniting business, policy, and community leaders to position Florida competitively on a global scale while building the foundation for long-term prosperity.”
