The Florida Public Service Commission (FPSC) has approved new charges for Florida City Gas’s (FCG) 2026 Safety, Access, and Facility Enhancement (SAFE) Program. The decision aims to support ongoing efforts to maintain and improve the safety and reliability of natural gas infrastructure in the region.

The SAFE Program focuses on replacing aging gas mains, removing higher-risk “orange pipe,” relocating facilities for better accessibility, and updating outdated equipment. In 2025, FCG replaced 31.7 miles of mains and 1,244 services as part of general upgrades. Additionally, the company replaced 18 miles of mains and 1,185 services specifically related to orange pipe replacement.

Starting January 1, 2026, monthly SAFE charges will increase. Customers using less than 6,000 therms per year will see their charge rise from $4.66 to $8.70 per month. Those using more than 6,000 therms annually will have their charge increased from $7.77 to $11.01 per month.

FCG plans to invest about $108 million in system improvements during 2026 with the goal of further enhancing safety measures, improving service reliability, and strengthening long-term resilience.

FCG currently serves approximately 116,000 residential, commercial, and industrial customers across Miami-Dade, Broward, St. Lucie, Indian River, Brevard, Palm Beach, Hendry, and Martin Counties.
