The Florida Public Service Commission (FPSC) has completed a nine-day hearing on Florida Power & Light Company’s (FPL) request to change its rates and a proposed settlement agreement. The hearing included testimony from experts, cross-examination, and a review of both FPL’s original rate proposal and the settlement terms.
The process was divided into two phases. Intervenors were able to question witnesses about both the original rate petition and the settlement agreement. The settlement was negotiated between FPL and a group of signatories, including The Florida Industrial Power Users Group, Florida Retail Federation, Florida Energy for Innovation Association, Walmart Inc., EVgo Services, Americans for Affordable Clean Energy, Circle K, RaceTrac, Wawa, Electrify America, Federal Executive Agencies, Armstrong World Industries, and the Southern Alliance for Clean Energy.
Parties involved in the case will be able to submit post-hearing briefs, which will serve as their final arguments based on all the evidence presented.
The FPSC plans to hold a Special Commission Conference on November 20, 2025, to discuss the proposed settlement agreement. The discussion will be based on the evidence collected during the hearing.
