Merlin Entertainments announced at the IAAPA Expo 2025 that a new indoor roller coaster, Galacticoaster, will open at LEGOLAND Resorts in Florida and California in early 2026. The company is investing $90 million in these attractions, marking its largest single investment for these two parks.

Galacticoaster will offer a customizable LEGO space adventure, where guests begin their journey in a Briefing Room before designing their own spacecraft using interactive touchscreens and RFID wristbands. Riders can personalize features such as the nose, tail, wings, and special elements of their craft, resulting in over 625 possible combinations. The ride merges digital customization with physical thrills and includes effects like synchronized lighting and appearances from classic LEGO Space characters.

The project has been developed over more than three years by Merlin Magic Making (MMM) alongside partners including ART Engineering, 2Heads, AVSC, Imagineize, and the LEGO Brand Parks & Experience teams. Rob Smith, COO of Merlin Entertainments said: “Galacticoaster redefines what a family coaster can be. It’s not just about the thrills – it’s about giving every guest the power to create their own story. It’s LEGO play, elevated to a whole new orbit. These investments reaffirm our commitment to the ongoing transformation of LEGOLAND Parks in North America into world class destination resorts. I can’t wait to see these space-themed experiences come to life in Florida and California early next year.”

Julie Estrada, North America Director of Communications for Merlin Entertainments added: “This project has been pure LEGO awesomeness from start to finish. It’s playful, it’s clever, and it’s a testament to how far we can go when imagination leads the way.”

Ahead of its opening, LEGOLAND Resorts have launched the Junior Galaxy Explorers Search—a nationwide program inviting families with young space enthusiasts to apply for an opportunity to preview the new experience and participate in special celebrations on opening day. More information about this initiative is available at LEGOLAND.com/JuniorExplorers.

The Galacticoaster attraction is part of a broader LEGO Galaxy theme celebrating various eras of LEGO Space sets such as Space Scooter (1979), Space Buggy, and M-Tron. The area will feature nine large-scale models built from over half a million bricks by Master Model Builders.

LEGOLAND Florida Resort offers more than 50 rides and attractions across 150 acres near Orlando and Tampa. The resort also includes themed accommodations and water park facilities designed for families with children.
