Highlands County in Central Florida is preparing for a series of holiday events in Sebring, Avon Park, and Lake Placid for the 2025 season. Activities include vintage train rides, parades, light displays, and local markets aimed at attracting residents and visitors of all ages.
One focal point of the festivities is Sebring’s Circle Park, which has recently undergone renovations highlighted on HGTV’s Home Town Takeover. The park will host the “Carousel of Lights” from November 29 to December 25, featuring illuminated displays, photo spots, and appearances by Santa Claus and the Grinch. On select nights, artificial snow will be featured downtown. While some activities have fees, access to light displays and snowfall remains free to the public.
The historic Jacaranda Hotel in Avon Park is set to showcase period holiday decorations until January 12, 2026. Guests can explore themed buffets and seasonal events reflecting the property’s 1920s heritage.
Holiday train rides are also scheduled between November 29 and December 21 aboard the Sugar Express with departures from Clewiston and Sebring. The experience includes decorated cars, carols, cookies, and an onboard visit from Santa Claus who greets children with gifts.
Community parades are planned throughout December: Avon Park hosts its annual Christmas Parade on December 1; Sebring follows with a “Candy Cane Lane”-themed parade on December 5; Lake Placid presents its “Gingerbread Lane” parade on December 13 where spectators can vote for their favorite entry.
Additional highlights include a nighttime farmers market and tree lighting at Journal Plaza on December 2; bilingual storytelling performances at Alan Jay Wildstein Center on December 7; craft fairs; fun runs such as Avon Park’s Jingle Bell Run on December 12; drive-through holiday village events by the Florida Flywheelers Antique Engine Club supporting local charities; boat parades across Lake Jackson; and community toy drives.
Most events are open to all with some requiring admission or tickets. Details about schedules can be found through Visit Sebring’s official channels at http://www.VisitSebring.com or via social media @VisitSebring.
