South Florida is seeing a wave of investment in sports facilities, with several major projects underway or recently approved across the region.

In Homestead, an 80-year ground lease has been finalized for a $275 million sports-themed mixed-use development. The Sports Performance Hub of Miami-Dade will feature a 10,000-seat multipurpose stadium, hotel, sports academy and new public park with courts for pickleball, tennis and basketball. The project is led by a Latin American consortium that includes former athletes such as NBA Hall of Famer Manu Ginobili. Soccer team Miami FC is expected to play its home games at the planned stadium when it opens in 2030. More details can be found at The Real Deal.

The city of Miami has approved more than $2 million in upgrades for three local baseball facilities. Most of the funding will go toward restoring Roberto Clemente Park in Wynwood. Additional subsidies are allocated to restore a mural at Dorsey Park in Overtown that was defaced with racist and antisemitic graffiti. There is also support for building a new baseball park under construction near loanDepot Park in Little Havana.

Jorge Mas, David Beckham and Ares Management have secured a $450 million loan from JPMorgan Chase Bank to help finance Miami’s $1 billion Freedom Park soccer stadium project. The development will include a new 25,000-seat stadium for Inter Miami CF, along with a 750-room hotel, office space aimed at tech companies and retail and restaurant areas totaling over one million square feet. Further information is available at The Real Deal.

Ultra Club Midtown is set to become the largest padel club in the United States when it opens this December in Miami. The two-acre facility will offer 14 padel courts—11 outdoors and three designed for children—as well as food service options and community programming.

In Fort Lauderdale, The Fort—a new pickleball complex next to Snyder Park—was built at a cost of $30 million. Spanning ten acres, it features 43 courts (including 14 covered), what is described as the world’s first dedicated pickleball stadium, plus amenities like a lakeside restaurant, recovery center and rooms for various other activities including bocce and beach volleyball.
